Having been thinking about doing shows again, I was agreeable when Angelica DeVille, a local entertianer her in Nashville, best known perhaps for her wild humour and benefits for Kids with Aids seemed like a possible opportunity. One that I presued. Then suddenly in early July, Cookie announced that she was having her 25th anniversity at the Jungle and wanted all her friends to come and entertian and specified that I was one of those she wanted to come do so.
Next it dawns on me that the "last weekend of July" when Cookie was having her anniversity shows (2 nights) was the same as July 26th when Angelica was having her benefit: "Christmas in July". So I found myself with not one but two drag engagements the same weekend.
Here is how it came to play out: I did the friday night show at the Jungle (1 number each show because I only had brought 2 numbers since I thought there were going to be hordes of entertainers) and did the benefit (2 numbers one show). I ended up doing the same two numbers: "One Love is all I need" by Tanya Tucker and "Save the Best to Last" by Vanessa Williams. This was ok as there were totally different audiances as well as slate of entertianers for the two events.I ended up of course going BACK to the Jungle for one more number the end of the second show on saturday and did "The Heart is a Hungry Hunter" by Reba Mcintire but no pictures were taken of that. BTW, I am thinking that it is possible I may do some future engagements as both groups seemed open to letting me entertain with them again in the near future. Lets see how it works out...(smile) I do of course have to get some more music under my belt so to speak.
The outfits and numbers are as follows: Jungle: the wildcat look is "1 Love", the long black gown is "Save the Best". The gaslite: The blue sparkly top: One Love and the long gown once again is Save the Best.(a very very popular number at the gaslite btw). Alto there are a picture of the two main divas at the Jungle: Cookie and Sabra to kinda give you a "feel" for the show, a picture of me on stage with Julie, Angela and Cuba and finally a couple of pictures of Roy as Photographer and Roy as carrier of stuff..LOL.
